Kal Bhairav, an incarnate of Lord Shiva or Mahakal, is famous for “consuming” alcohol. There is no official estimate of how much liquor is offered at the temple but devotees are believed to present several hundred litres of alcohol to the deity every day. Even in Kumbh Mela 2016 MP Government  decided to open two liquor counters, one for (locally made alcohol) and the other for foreign liquor to offered visitors/devotees ,Prasad for these amazing Lord Bhairava.

Kal Bhairava is also known as Khetrapala and he is regarded as the guardian of the temple that is why the keys of the Kal Bhairava temple is to be kept at the temple premise at night and no one should carry it elsewhere.
